On behalf of the camping committee, I’d like to express our deep
gratefulness to all campers who have joined this exciting trip.
The complete successful trip is when everyone really enjoys and
has a great time together as a big family, two generations have
merged together in a very opened-mind spirit and in a rare environment
which we rarely have a chance to have such an experience and feeling
in our daily activities.
We also would like to extend our appreciation to all leaders of
every group who have helped organizing your members participating
actively and promptly in every single activity, such as gathering
for breakfast, lunch, dinner, games, karaoke, dancing and especially
morning healthy exercise, etc…
We’d like to extend our thankfulness to all kitchen staffs, washing
staffs, cleaning up team, setting up team for helping speeding
up the process, so we have more time for entertainment. This is
the success of every single one of us who has actively contributed
to this fantastic and significant event which now has become unforgettable
memories. I am sure all the beautiful and lovely pictures and
videos will become even much more valuable a few years later when
we kick back and relax looking at those pictures again and we
will surely be proud of our friendship. This is a special kind
of friendship of 4 schools, Khai-Minh, Duc-Tri, Minh-Vien and
Binh-Hoa, and now we have become very intimate from one another
after this trip. Thank you so much for those friends who have
come from far away, out of state, your presences are our great
inspiration and encouragement.
We also don’t forget to express our gratitude for those friends
who have spent their times and skills taking great pictures for
all of us. These pictures and videos are a valuable treasure in
our memories. Special thanks to all instant and talented actors
and actresses in a play without any practicing at all and thanks
to all gorgeous and lovely dancers. What a wonderful feeling looking
back those marvelous pictures !
We’d like to extend special appreciation to A Ming and Kathy who
have prepared, packed and loaded their own power generators on
pickup truck and brought them to the campsite, we are all aware
that required lots of hard work. Their hard work and marvelous
enthusiasm have been acknowledged and appreciated. Even though
we did not use it, because we were not aware that the campsite
would has electricity available. It’s crucial that Kathy and A
Ming has a good backup power generators available for our usage.
Last
but not least, we have heard that most of you enjoy almost everything
and we do hope that every single camper has a great time and a
fantastic memory which will last forever… The only thing we feel
uncomfortable and exhausted is an extremely hot weather which
is out of our control.
Thank you all.

Thank
you so much for sharing your memory. This will help all of us to
remember this unforgettable camping trip forever. I do have some
appreciation message that I would like to share with everyone as
well.
Dear Camping Trip Committee
I've been on so many camping trips throughout the years but
this trip has been truly exceptional. I just want to express how
appreciative of the committee's hard work everyone really is.
The food was delicious. The karaoke was so much
fun. The games were really exciting. The entertainment was fantastic.
The t-shirts and trophies were very meaningful. The amount of
effort in planning and setting up this entire trip was just remarkable.
I was told that the original chef for the trip
was unable to attend so the committee had to shop for kitchen
tools, and Dung, Phung and che Ping had to make last minute preparations.
I'm sure it was very stressful but it turned out great. Anh Loc
brought his own karaoke equipment for our entertainment. Hung
had to shop, design and print t-shirts, aprons, banners, signs
and decorations. He also had to prepare costumes for all of the
lovely performers. Anh Yee was such a wonderful MC for the showtimes.
We can't forget Minh who had to bring his own power generators
for backup. On behalf of Southern California Duc-Tri alumni, I'd
like to thank you to our amazing committee and everyone that helped
out. By the way, I just want to relay the message from those that
had to leave early due to their work schedules; they are very
sorry they couldn't stay the full trip. They really enjoyed every
moment of it.
I'd also like to point out that the chance to
make new friends from many places and different schools was wonderful
and a pleasant experience. Especially people who were from out
of state such as Las Vegas and Vietnam helped make this trip so
special. It felt like we were all from the same big family.
I'm really thankful of our committee for organizing
such a remarkable camping trip, and I hope that we can be able
to go on more similar trips together in the near future.
Cheers!

Our
2012 Camping Trip
Camping Trip July 21st to 23rd, 2012
It was a hot summer day. Fourteen people met up at our house at
7:30AM. Our plan was to leave by 8:00AM in three cars but since
Loc informed us that the North Cal group was running late, we
took our time and started leaving at 8:30AM. We even made a long
stop over at a Jack-in-the-Box to have breakfast.
As we merged into I-178, the North Cal envoy suddenly appeared
in front of our van with Yee leading the way, followed by Hung,
and then the white van – the food bank driven by Loc. From that
moment on, our focus was on that van. We must follow the food….
At the park entrance, we received a warm welcome by other camp
members who have arrived earlier with a large sign and a big smile
under the hot sun.
Our trip continued with loads of foods and activities throughout
the three days. It was so hot and dry but we had a great time.
I had camped several times before but this is by far the best.
Here are my thoughts with this amazing well planned trip:
The site:
It was a perfect size for the group, a good location for the South
but a bit far for the North. It was a beautiful setting with rocks,
trees, and water. It would have been ideal if it were greener
with the temperatures in the low 80s’ instead of 100s’ (wishful
thinking). Setting up the tent was a bit challenge because of
the uneven surface and the lack of some parts but Hung came to
rescue with some anchors and problems were solved.
The bathroom: The shower in the ladies’ room was running the whole
time, only on the last day that I finally figured out how to turn
it off. The stopper in the control knob was broken or missing
so you need to turn it slowly counter clockwise until you see
the water flow slow down and stop at around 6:30 o’clock position.
If you keep turning past that mark, it will run again. As for
the toiletries, I brought shampoo, soap, tooth pasted, etc. but
did not bring toilet tissues. If I were to do it again, I would
make sure to bring some and also volunteer to empty the trash
in the bathroom.
The food:
I expected to have the simple hamburgers and hot dogs but OMG,
we got bo kho, won ton noodles, thit kho, tom kho, chicken wings,
fruits, vegetables, coffee, tea, juice, even beers. The chef was
so clever to serve banh mi on the first meal and cup noodles for
the last one which did not require cooking. It was so well planned
and executed. I had no complains except that I came to the camp
expecting to lose weight but since the food was so yummy and plentiful,
I might have gained instead. Kudos to Phung, Ai-Ping, and most
of all Ai-Dung, excellent jobs you guys.
The entertainment:
The stage was complete with full karaoke machine and decorated
with an awesome backdrop created by Hung. Loc and Hung only found
out that there was electrical access by the pavilion on the day
we came so there was no need for the generator. Therefore Minh’s
lonely generator stayed on anh Hoa’s truck the entire time.
The show was rich and colorful with fantastic costumes and performances.
Performers were selected and trained only a few minutes before
the show. The soldiers were so handsome… they made me want to
join the army. Elvis Presley was breathtaking, I wanted to hold
him and cry. The belly dancer was absolutely gorgeous, I was so
jealous. The Taiwan folk dance’s music and costume was surprising
but dancers adapted to it so well and lively. "Bin Sap Sam"
was so good looking and sexy, I wanted to bring him home with
me.
The impromptu married couple game was equally entertaining. The
MC was very fun and responsive. Paula and Paul should be a professional
comedian. Andy Lu did not win the game, so he went around the
camp after the game to promote his Sợ Vợ web site. The site will
train men to love and serve their wives with several levels of
classes. Please check out his page for more information J I will
try to convince Minh to sign up as well.
The Photo:
Every time you want to get people’s attention, you just hold up
the camera with several models and everyone else would come in
a flash. No one wants to miss out on the photo ops. Even the loud
speaker did not work near as effective.
The souvenirs:
$80 fee went so far. Beside the 1000-star hotel, delicious food
and fantastic show, everyone got the bright green shirt with memorable
logos. For those who volunteered at the kitchen, each even got
a personalized apron and hat. The organizers, games winners, team
leaders even got trophies and other prizes…what a good deal!
The others:
It was miserably hot so walking a few steps from the tent to the
pavilion was like eternity. The bathroom was always busy, and
the night was anything but quiet. There were cars passing by every
so often. After the show, the entertainment continued in the happiest
tent nearby with conversation and singing. Paula’s x-rated laugh
guaranteed to eliminate the need for Viagra. Best of all, a chorus
of snores at different rhythms and tunes were on all around the
camp at night.
Despite all that, it was healthy and fun. Even the morning exercise
was entertaining. Some of the people who I thought were not in
so good health condition survived the gruesome temperature and
sleeping “under the stars”, on the sloping ground. They had actually
enjoyed the trip. I would do it again in a heartbeat.
My question is: When is our next trip?

tận nơi khảo xát, chuẩn bị dụng cụ nhà bếp, dụng cụ dựng trại, in T-shirts,
in aprons, chương trình văn nghệ và sắp đặc trò chơi v.v…
